It would be a different story if they had stolen recipes from Hispanic/Latinx people in Portland but it sounds like they got them from observation Mexico and then sort of adapted them to their own. That being said, they didn't do themselves any favors in how they described them "peeking" in and watching the ladies work. Might seem cute to them but it does sound a little unawares and tone deaf. I cringed reading them. If they had worded it differently I doubt they would've received this much backlash.
