This is awesome. It's one of those pet peeves of mine that some SSL-enabled sites don't ever default to the secure version (and sometimes you don't know one exists).
I've actually been using Privoxy (http://www.privoxy.org/ http://www.privoxy.org/) to do the same (among other things, like ad blocking).
