Oh I always have fun trying to break these apps. This one did fairly well, but it's still obvious it's not a native app. Does that matter to most of the end users? Probably not, but they probably don't appreciate the heavy RAM usage and extra CPU incurred from running a language interpreter inside of your application. Here are some notes after I downloaded and played with it a bit on a Nexus 5:
- Scrolling slowly with your finger held down on the settings page leads to visible stuttering, though flick-to-scroll seems to run at 60 FPS
- Tapping the menu button in the bottom right quickly a few times can lead to a darkened screen with no navigation menu displaying
- Doesn't respect the back button on Android
- The app takes 224 MB of RAM, the next highest is spotify at 176
It's pretty impressive for a Cordova, but I feel like it's more effort to try to mimic native functionality with web dev tools.
I still think React Native (or at least the idea of React Native) holds promise, because at least then you're getting native UI elements which behave much more consistently and are more robust against random tapping and swiping on the screen.
