I don't see a difference. racist trolling is a form of racism.
- tyingq 9y agoThe motivation is (usually) different, so how you might try and stop it would be different as well. And, I'm honestly just curious.
- whitemale 9y agoIs making fun of a group of people and having no hatred towards them the same thing as actually hating that group? If I tell a joke about black/asian/latino/<insert your favourite race or ethnicity here> then I'm automatically racist, then I'm exactly the same thing as the KKK and the Westboro Baptist Church?
- metaphorm 9y agotrolling and joking aren't the same thing. a joke is intended as humor and the audience understands it as such (even if they might not consider it funny). trolling is intended to cause offense and distress. even if a racist troll does not authentically hold racist beliefs, they are displaying a level of insensitivity in communication that is identical with racist speech.
