Isn't that exclusively used by middle aged computer scientists?

  There has been a resurgence of use since the popularity of Spacemacs, and I know several of my peers around my age (20) who use Emacs, including myself.

  Yes, it takes experience and wisdom to upgrade to using Emacs. Besides, won't every currently young computer scientist be a middle aged computer scientist soon enough?
