Better to ask, "when are we going to start making hardware optimized for smarter programming languages than C?"
- wmf 19y agoWhat such optimizations are possible? One that comes to mind is transactional memory which is being implemented by Azul and Sun, but I don't know of any others.
- scott_s 19y agoCarriage before horse. It's not that hardware is optimized for C, it's C that's optimized for hardware. Think of C as a portable assembly language.
