Currently in the US the workforce population rate is at an all time low in almost 40 years. Basically the same number of people working as in the early 1970s. Yikes. My point is we're already in this situation, automation be damned, and until the tsunami of anti-intellectualism backs off, then smart people aren't going to have a chance to actually figure some of this out.
