The current state of the art in QC is more like Alan Kay's Dynabook paper: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynabook https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynabook
i.e. even the "very crude attempts" stage (your Newtons or Palm Pilots) is still science fiction.
