Any kill switch capability that is built in will simply become another vector for attack—in this case an attack that overrides the core competency of the Internet which is massive redundancy in case any one section fails.
It is almost a certainty that such a capability will be exploited.
- stretchwithme 16y agohow about a guy at the border unplugging the fiber optic cable? I assume it can already be disconnected somewhere physically; all this does is authorize the government to do it.
- lisper 16y agoYou forgot about satellites.
- stretchwithme 16y agoyeah, those can be turned off already
- lisper 16y agoNot by the government. At least not legally AFAIK. Communications satellites are privately owned.

- blhack 16y agoThere would be quite a few cables to unplug: http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/staff/m.dodge/cybergeography/atlas/cables.html http://personalpages.manchester.ac.uk/staff/m.dodge/cybergeo...
