Well... feminism is something that has been around for a while. On the other hand, the "Men's Rights" banner (at least to me) seems much more recent, with most of the charges being led by the denizens of places like /r/TheRedPill (where they advocate some sort of extreme version of "every man should be a dudebro alpha male"). While it might not be entirely fair, if the majority of the visible "Men's Rights" proponents are the extremists, then they will end up being the ones to claim the banner for themselves as the term isn't as well established yet.
