Because IMHO that's the most likely reason for a developer to have Handbrake installed. It's not the only reason, as I noted, but I believe it's the most likely one.

        No, that's the most likely reason for you to have Handbrake installed. Don't project yourself onto others. As I already said, you provided a valid business case, at which point the rest of your holier-than-thou comment goes out the window because it could very well have been that and the OP has no incentive to say claim otherwise.
