I doubt it's a bad move with android as John says it may be. They could have avoided the phone market, let Apple progress with less competition and stayed close partners. Then Apple would have had all the power and could pretty much create their own ad platform at their choosing. Kinda like how Zynga is at the mercy of Facebook despite making them profitable through there heavy advertising on the platform.
