I was in your situation at 15 (needed to develop something for a family friend). It was a total failure but kept going thinking up stuff on my own, reading and learning. Three years later I finished high school and got a job. Havent looked back since, ten years later started my own development/consulting company now running for three years.
My point is, if you bite hard enough, your education doesn't matter.
