Yes i also the same point, why would any one want to miss the free upgrade. The whole update hijack and privacy concerns kept some people away. Organization running bulk of window's xp and 7, for sheer cost cutting purposes. But still the whole thing affected all, if some people weren't hesitant to migrate to the newer update , they would have been saved.

I believe this also was the reason that Target and Home Depot did not follow manufacturers (Microsoft) recommendations to upgrade point of sale terminals from the (now) unsupported Windows XP embedded to a later version of the OS still supported. Because they disregarded the advice, millions of people had their credit cards hacked. At least the CEO of Target got sacked as a result.
