And 2017 is the time of Windows XP and WannaCry.
What I'm saying is, those things are all still running in prod. I got an employer off Java 6 just two weeks ago. The next step is all the Java packages that were deprecated 5 years ago.
- joshuamorton 9y agoRight, and Windows XP was deprecated 3 years ago after a 12 year lifespan. That people are still using XP is, honestly, inexcusable. If you want a 10 year deprecation policy for something someone else is maintaining, you should be prepared to pay for the salaries of the engineers who will maintain it for the 5 years after everyone else has moved off the system, or just build your own api ;)
