My interpretation is that, if this is something that will always be needed, it should be the responsibility of the government beholden to the taxpayers and voters, not at the whims of a corporation whose motivation or dedication may change quickly depending on circumstances.
- pchristensen 9y agoThe government has whims too, and while they may not change as frequently, they can change much more dramatically.
- v64 9y agoAgreed, but we have a system in place for lobbying the government via our elected representatives. It's not always effective, and it has its problems, but it exists and it works for many cases. If Amazon changes their mind on this, there's no recourse.
