The reason I moved to GitHub from BitBucket, over 3 years ago, was because they (Atlasssian) failed to implement code search — something I now use all the time on GitHub.
It took them until last summer to make it available; I remember getting pinged quite regularly over the course of 2 years of people asking in a support thread why it still was not available.
- rahkiin 9y agoCode search is very important indeed, and it works beautifully on GitHub. We must remember though that BitBucket (Cloud) is not Atlassian's core product, unlike GitHub. Most of Atlassian's revenue is (probably) still the licensing of their software. Could not find any numbers on this, sadly. It is not an excuse for Atlassian, but it is a reason.

Years ago I naively subscribed and +1ed a few "I can't believe this is not possible" style issues, occasionally I see a hopeless soul adding another "still no update?" comment.
