Forget about scaling, tell me what are all/most of the possible worker roles (part-time or full-time) that a startup needs in its: first month, 2nd-6th month, rest of 1st year, and so on.
This kind of knowledge "beforehand" is a valuable startup insight that is not disseminated well enough IMO.
- ido 9y agoImpossible to tell cause the trajectory of each company is different. You need to hire the people you need in your situation (time/budget/workload/opportunities/etc) not in the "general case".
- fizixer 9y agoSee this is where I disagree. We need to get over the idea that every startup is a special snowflake with its own unique set of needs and requirements. I'm not even talking about hard-tech, or some non-tech law firm startup, or a new hospital or something. For the software startup (all types, online/offline, web/desktop/mobile, etc, etc), I believe in the 80-20 rule. 80% of the worker roles of all startups are very similar and can be enumerated and contemplated in advance. If entrepreneurs fail to take that into account, they're simply raising the risk bar and setting themselves up for a more likely failure.
