Why not just use Apache open office?
- remx 9y agoThanks for the tip, and I will try this. As I said, .DOCX files work best in their native Win Office environment as I've had problems with them in open source solutions (formatting issues), whitespace injection ruining the layout, etc
- unlmtd 9y agoGo all the way and ban windows. You won't regret it, I promise. Run msword with wine?

- cesarb 9y agoOr Libreoffice, which has had many enhancements (including to compatibility with MS Word files) since it forked from OpenOffice.org, while Apache OpenOffice stagnated.
