Does this mean that I can safely connect my outdated Windows 7 back to the internet?
- tomlong 9y agoSure
- hetfeld 9y agoKappa
- Retr0spectrum 9y agoNo! All it takes is a single byte to be patched and the "killswitch" can be disabled. There are almost certainly other variants already in circulation. Use an offline security update.
- goda90 9y agoDisable SMBv1 before you connect it!
- rochak 9y agoAre there any side effects of disabling SMBs for your local machine that you won't be using to connect to network drives?
- deanclatworthy 9y agoYou are fine if you are behind a router on a local network at home and don't have SMB port exposed to the public internet. And assuming all other clients on your network aren't infected.
