This is exactly how I manage 500k+ pageviews a day on many Wordpress installs, on a single virtual server. The whole basis of the insane speed is file based caching that granted a page is cached, does not even hit the PHP backends. nginx is an absolute power house and a rock solid piece of infrastructure, the stack doesn't even make use of memcache, we don't need it!
