It is so wrong on many levels I don't even know where to start. He is scaling a blog engine (!) with a "scalability daemon" instead of generating html pages and storing them in cache. He could then serve ten thousands of pages with one server instead of 823 request of seconds and the complex setup.
- dageroth 16y agoThe blog engine is just a proof of concept - I don't think he is interested in actually scaling his blog...
- bittersweet 16y agoI think he is just experimenting with whatever technology he can find, hence cassandra for powering a blog... Nothing wrong with that of course, I regularly experiment with scaling on personal projects eventhough I will almost never need to use it.
- ryan-allen 16y agoThis is exactly how I manage 500k+ pageviews a day on many Wordpress installs, on a single virtual server. The whole basis of the insane speed is file based caching that granted a page is cached, does not even hit the PHP backends. nginx is an absolute power house and a rock solid piece of infrastructure, the stack doesn't even make use of memcache, we don't need it!
