Many libraries are planning to drop support before 2020, many have already dropped support, and the rest never supported Python 2 in the first place. Python 2's official support ends in 2020. How can you ask someone new to the language to just choose? Well they don't have to choose. They just choose Python 3. That's what it says on the Python website.
