- scrollaway 9y agoDon't use an online password manager then. https://www.keepassx.org/ https://www.keepassx.org/
- NeededToPost 9y agoKeepassX hasn't been updated in a while. https://keepassxc.org/ https://keepassxc.org/ is the maintained and updated version.
- bmurphy1976 9y agoThere is also KeeWeb (https://keeweb.info https://keeweb.info) which you can install as an electron app or self host.
- FLUX-YOU 9y ago>KeepassX hasn't been updated in a while. Is it broken somehow?
- lucideer 9y ago"broken" is highly subjective, but here's a list of the issues that originally motivated the fork: https://github.com/keepassx/keepassx/pulls https://github.com/keepassx/keepassx/pulls Discussion for context: https://github.com/keepassxreboot/keepassxc/issues/43 https://github.com/keepassxreboot/keepassxc/issues/43
- scrollaway 9y agoIt's not broken; to be fair, I would definitely call keepassxc better/more up-to-date but it hasn't been as battle-tested as keepassx (even though it's the same codebase). They're both just as appropriate to use, which is why I recommend keepassx. I do use keepassxc myself however.
- thanksgiving 9y agoIn my case, I trust Google with everything (except my Google passwords). If someone has access to my Google account, they have access to almost all of my passwords. However, this us only because I chose to trust smart lock. I'm not sure how your do syncing but there are solutions to create and store pseudo random passwords locally like the many variants of kee pass.
- kalleboo 9y agoPerhaps the same company that you're already trusting to not have backdoors in the browser and OS?
