When the buyer was arrested for a DWI and drug possession, police seized the truck and filed a civil forfeiture action against it, even though Ali was not involved. In order to regain his Chevy, Ali was asked to prove his innocence. If Ali sold the car but kept the title what the heck did he "sell"? This sounds like a poor defense against civil forfeiture. It seems like he'd have to claim he cheated the person he sold the car in order to assert ownership. I wouldn't want to touch that case either.
