I agree completly. Not having a car or space for camping gear is a huge barrier to getting outdoors.
Imagine two groups of people: 1000 suburbanites with SUVs and garages, and 1000 urban apartment dwellers with no car at all.
Which group is going to have more hikers, hunters, campers, fishers, ect?
- s73ver 9y agoPlaces like REI, where one can rent camping equipment for a reasonable price, exist.
- closeparen 9y agoOnce you've rented camping gear, what do you do with it? Remember, the plan is that neither the REI nor your apartment would have any parking. Haul it on the bus?
- mason240 9y agoSure, but it's another barrier. Every time you put a group of people though a barrier, you lose some.
