I looked at a Tesla. I was a bit disappointed about the quality of it considering the price.
So until it becomes a true luxury car, I will stick with petrol engine luxury cars.
Tesla is still just a "tech demo. " Like you pay a lot to try out a prototype kind of thing.
Kind of how buying a Hololense dev kit is expensive. It's not the quality of the lense that makes it expensive but rather the new tech.
I wonder if Model 3 will change this.
- bobsil1 9y agoQuality? You mean interior finish? Elon is about mass drivers, the guts are what you pay for.
- kuschku 9y ago$90'000 is not mass drivers. That should be the top-of-the-line cast-in-gold interior.
- bobsil1 9y agoMass drivers in physics sense = things which move mass. Car, rocket, orbital rail gun, etc.
- scarlac 9y ago~$70k cash price for the base 75 kWh. ~$90k is for the fully spec'ed 75 kWh version. Of course, it doesn't change your point: $70k is still not for everyone, but $20k certainly makes a big difference.
- WorldMaker 9y agoOutside of Tesla there are plenty of options in electric luxury cars. GM has a Cadillac relative of the Volt. BMW has several electric/hybrid-electric options.
- chrisper 9y agoI agree. I haven't been looking in a while.
