I understand why they did the fabric. Microsoft can't release a laptop with an aluminum unibody and Windows 10 on it and call it a Macbook killer. They have to do something innovative with the design. But if aluminum is taken and you plastic doesn't scream "high end," what do you do? Apparently you put fabric on it? I often balance my coffee on my Macbook, so I can only see this ending in stains and sadness.
- zeusk 9y agoAFAIK that's a custom blend of alcantara which is also used in high-end sports and luxury vehicles for interior. And honestly, I'd prefer fabric over slit wrist inducing metal Apple uses which also makes the laptop toasty underneath.
- mercer 9y agoI find that with my MacBook, the areas next to the trackpad and my palms become sweaty and sticky pretty quickly. Do you think this would be worse or better with this 'fabric'?
- pthreads 9y ago> I often balance my coffee on my Macbook, so I can only see this ending in stains and sadness. Oh, the humanity! Why would you do such a thing? Are you a modern day Kozmo Kramer?
- mercer 9y agoI suppose it's pretty safe if they're balancing it on top of a closed laptop. Next to the trackpad would just be madness!
