I think I understand what you're trying to get at. But it assumes that the person's expertise is truly "aligned" with the subject matter. I don't want to badger you with all of my thoughts on this, but, at the extreme, even if the author (was such an expert that they) knew who was performing these leaks and why--as opposed to giving speculation, which the author does state--we would also have to trust that they're giving their complete and honest account on the matter. So even in the case that they have perfection information, you must consider how much faith you want to put in their output. Note: I don't like the idea of will-nilly distrusting everything everyone says, but I do think it's worth pointing out possibilities that may exist for many situations.
