Same here with only eight buckets and a couple hundred total objects. Maybe they're just overwhelmed right now...

  But isn't that the point of S3? That it can't be overwhelmed? I tried it out and it worked great, I only have 3 buckets though. As with the first version of anything, there are always kinks that need to be worked out. Great to finally see an official web based tool for managing S3 though!
