Does anyone actually like social security?

  It's very popular, since most Americans don't have anything significant in savings for retirement.   You could probably find people who like it among those who are receiving checks from it. I think SS is a good place to consider Chesterton's Fence: before removing something, you have to explain and understand why it's there in the first place. Incidence of senior poverty has dropped since SS was implemented. Maybe it's not so much that people like SS as that they weren't comfortable with the poverty of their elders that they saw before implementing SS.
