I think there is a fair bit of truth in this. There is barely a week that goes by here without a news story about some company or another grossly underpaying and/or mistreating immigrant workers in Australia. In some cases they are supposed to be students, but are forced to work 40hr weeks in low paying jobs under threat of instant deportation.
