I still have yet to find a music player that covers all my bases like Winamp did for so many years. Anyone have recommendations for Linux? Short of running Foobar via WINE, every player I've tried seems to be missing one feature or another.
- Spoom 9y agoAudacious gets very close.
- neilsimp1 9y agoAgreed. I've tried several on Ubuntu and they all fall short.
- rfz 9y agoTry Lollipop. It's the best I've found, next to QuodLibet as someone else mentioned in this thread. The only places it falls short are not being able to edit tags directly, and having to click 'update music library' every time you add something to your monitored folder(s).
- fosco 9y agomy needs are minimal but VLC has covered my needs.
- detaro 9y agoQuodlibet seems fairly close to "cross-plattform foobar2000" (depending on what exactly is important to you of course) https://github.com/quodlibet/quodlibet https://github.com/quodlibet/quodlibet
- rfz 9y agoGood call! I actually landed on this one the other day after looking more into my options. I hadn't realized before that tag editing is available from within the app.
- Something1234 9y agoMaybe Banshee. It meets all of my needs. It's a little heavier than I would like, but it seems to work flawlessly for me.
- Cyclenerd 9y agoHave you tried XMMS? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMMS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XMMS
- rfz 9y agoI have- it's definitely a good mimic of Winamp, but it hasn't been updated since 2004 which makes me a little hesitant.
