I spent a good few minutes googling around as I think I had heard a conflation of the Kekulé dream and the initial idea from Crick that DNA was a double helix. The way I remember hearing it he had the vision of two snakes winding around one another trying to bite one another's tail. I can't find much about it online so I'm going to put this down to a conflation with Kekulé's dream.
