I agree, picking binary size as a variable seems like not a great choice to me. More interesting things would be: Number of network calls. Network IO Disk IO Runtime Number of syscalls I say this because all of those things seem much more likely to be the source of failures to me. We all know about network unreliability, CAP theorem and the Byzantine generals problem, so why doesn't it apply to testing too?
