The last number I heard for here in San Diego was 140 breweries. Many of these won't meet the criteria for ratings, though.
If you are in town, go to 30th street in North Park and you can walk between something like 10 breweries / tasting rooms, not even including beer bars. It's ridiculous.
Also, Oceanside is closer to SD than many places that are in SD county. (Same could be argued for SF and Santa Rosa)
- mmanfrin 9y agoSan Diego gets special mention, because I believe the great American Beer Renaissance started there. The modern (American style) IPA was first (commercially) made in SD in 1996.
