Maybe we should stop acting like the US is the only country in the world. 70% of the STEM students in Iran are women. There are male quotas.
In Malaysia the amount of females in stem research is 49%. The US numbers are supposedly around 25ish.
You may have divided opinions on the why but I have two issues here.
First can we stop pretending 25% is somewhere close to "I'm the only woman" and second can we stop pretending that the US is somehow representative for the whole world? In Japan supposedly the numbers are much lower. I see 14% in one paper.
