Crocodiles Ride Ocean Currents for Ocean Travel
- d_r 16y agoI just might get downvoted for this, but submissions like this tarnish HN.
- ascuttlefish 16y agoI'm sorry you feel that way. I thought it might gratify someone's intellectual curiosity.
- lenley 16y agoIndeed, I think there are also quite a few engineers who have backgrounds in other sciences outside of comp sci / EE -- also I would think people would be interested in inspiration from other sources. Crocs are like horseshoe crabs and other organisms that are extremely efficient and "[crocs] are an ancient lineage, and are believed to have changed little since the time of the dinosaurs. They are believed to be 200 million years old whereas dinosaurs became extinct 65 million years ago; crocodiles survived great extinction events" from wikipedia... I'd think we should be spending an awful lot of time studying the croc imho.
- Tamerlin 16y agoI appreciate the link.
- davidw 16y agoI'm generally in favor of few off topic articles, but ones like this are easily ignored. The really bad ones are the ones about politics.
- billswift 16y agoIt depends on what about politics. Many readers here are highly interested in business, and, unfortunately, except for a few niche products, politics strongly affects business.
- davidw 16y agoThere are a few very directly related things that are worth looking at, but even those tend to not be some of "HN's finer moments". Other stuff is tangential and really degrades rapidly.

- Qz 16y agoI just might get ____voted for this, but comments like this tarnish HN.
- mattmiller 16y agoNo, a front page filled with ipad news tarnishes HN, this is genuinely interesting and new.
