He's not technically wrong, he's just....basically wrong. Weapons and shields wear out. But I always have at least 5 on my and you can usually pick up the enemy you just killed's weapon. I've never been short on weapons. It's a little sad to see that awesome sword you kinda got attached to break, but....there's always something new to try. Two-handed spears, giant hammers - adds nice variety. I'm yet to farm anything.
