When writing Developer job descriptions I typically settle on "Bachelors degree or equivalent" for the education requirement.
The best Programmers I've worked with were self-taught autodidacts with insatiable curiosity.
- Noumenon72 10y agoHow do people prove they have autodidacted the "equivalent" of a bachelors degree?
- aidenn0 10y agoConsidering I've met bachelors holders that couldn't write FizzBuzz in a language of their choice, I wouldn't think that's a huge concern.
- matchagaucho 10y agoI prefer a take-home coding exercise for interviews, paid at an hourly rate. Equal parts subjective and objective. The exercise requires candidates to git clone, unit test, document, submit PR, and walk a reviewer through the solution.... basically go full lifecycle on a coding task.
