Absolutely, but I've been seeing a trend here. Two kinds of great hackers
a)-Great writers and they write good stuff e.g. PG.
b)-Great hackers but they don't write a thing e.g. RTM. Yeah, I know he and other such hackers write plethora of cool academic papers but I always wish if more great hackers like RTM & others would write stuff for public en-masse. May be, this is just not possible. Just a mere wish.

- jazj 19y agoSlurp slurp. It's not clear that PG is a great hacker or a great writer. He slammed out Viaweb (oooo, it was written in Lisp!!!), and cobbled together a few macros thrown on top of a Scheme. He hardly ranks with RMS, Torvalds, or even ESR. And his essays seem to focus more on conveying a sense of feigned wonderment and "gee I'm jus' an ordinary hacker wonderin' 'bout the bigger things in the world" faux naivete. So. Maybe not the best example. But maybe the best sucking-up.
