You obviously don't play video games, do CAD or video stuff or develop and compile large software. My desktop is never replaced by my laptop.
- vertex-four 10y agoVideo games run perfectly reasonably for a casual player, and even some low-level competitive players, on a mid-spec laptop. Not everybody demands that the latest Crytek game run at 60fps on extra-high settings 100% of the time. Aside from that - most people don't do those things either. A laptop is totally feasible as a replacement for the 99.99% of people who could also get away with a 5 year old desktop.
- kbart 10y agoI'm not much of a gamer, but still find tiny screen and keyboard limiting gaming experience more than graphic settings.
- NoGravitas 10y agoRight, but most of the laptop-only people will dock their laptop at a desk with a big screen and keyboard.
- caseysoftware 10y agoYes, when I plug in at home, I plug my laptop into a pair of 22" screens, a simple sound system, and a keyboard.
- Kenji 10y agoHave fun putting a 180W, 30cm long graphics card into your Laptop to play a new game on low-medium settings at a stable framerate.
- sirtaj 10y agoWhy not? eGPU dock prices have come down significantly in the last few months.
