Newspapers - major newspapers, not yellow press - in Germany reported that the British queen had a cold. And you complain about an actual IT subject making it to the frontpage? Democratically (s)elected by the visitors of this site no less.
- Jean-Philipe 9y agoWell, I was not reading a major German newspaper here. Last time checked, this was hacker news. I don't see the connection between the two, but anyhow, let's just go with it for a moment. I actually like your comparison: this post is comparable to major German newspapers reporting that the British queen had a cold. I could not have come up with a better analogy. If you see anything remarkable in the latest nodejs update that makes it worth being on HN - point it out to me please! Maybe I have been missing something.
- IIIIIIIIIIII 9y agoAs I said: just don't vote, period. You are not the only reader. The problem of what rises to the front has been solved - by voting. You add noting but completely useless noise, making your complaint quite ironic.
- Jean-Philipe 9y agoSo, I'm not allowed to ask why this post is interesting? By the way, votes on HN are not equal and not the only mechanism to get on the front page.
- IIIIIIIIIIII 9y agoSo, I'm not allowed to say that your complaint has already been addressed by the very architecture of this site and that ironically you waste your and everybody else's time much more so than what you complain about?
- Jean-Philipe 9y agoMy "complaint" was actually trying to find out why people upvoted in the first place. The "why" is not addressed by this architecture. I'm amazed. People in this thread jump in to defend the upvoting of this post and there's not even one single argument on why it is an interesting article to begin with. > So, I'm not allowed to say that ... Okay, uhm, can you point me out where I didn't allow you anything? Since it is so hard for you to understand. So according to your argumentation, Trump got voted and people should not discuss on why that happened, because the voting system is taking care of the "why" part? You are not making any sense.
- smitherfield 9y agoWhen a 90-year-old person has any illness, even a cold, it could be life-threatening.
- IIIIIIIIIIII 9y agoWhat does that have to do with the topic??? Do you think newspapers should report illnesses of old people? What a risible response!
- smitherfield 9y agoSure, if the old person is one of the 10 most famous living people.
