Your anecdotal statement doesn't bring much to the discussion, but there surely are great differences in tap water quality around the globe. I have just found an investigation why the risk for AK is higher in the UK. That would make sense. Water tanks would be breeding grounds for the amoeba. (The UK housing stock is slowly converting over to plumbing that eliminates the water tanks, but lots of older housing will still have a water tank in the loft somewhere.)
