I read that sentence and I can only think of the short, brutal lives human beings experienced during the era of tribalism. Not of something holistic and connecting. I'm also a bit amused that you say you chose Costa Rica for it's "lack of a standing military". I worry that might be interpreted in a less-than-positive way by the government there.
