that is... misleading. afaik openssl removed a bunch of those uninitialized uses, not sure if all of them. But openssl never exclusively relied on them. There once was a "famous" bug, but it affected only openssl in debian, not openssl itself, where such an occurrence was fixed in a wrong way.
