I'm beginning to doubt the political neutrality of wiki leaks and Snowden. Do you really think the US is the only country with penetrable intelligence agencies? Why haven't KGB/FSB malwares come out?
- chakalakasp 10y agoWait, you're just now starting to doubt their neutrality? This feels like an Onion headline in the making -- "Local Man Starting To Think Wikileaks Might Not Be Unbiased Source Of News"
- kazinator 10y agoArea man! :)
- toyg 10y agoThe difference between US agencies and others is that US citizens believe their own propaganda. All that stuff about freedom and human rights is not conductive to an environment of strict discipline and secrecy dedicated to screwing people. So, when the ideological opposition is not clearly antithetical to their way of life (as it was in Soviet or Nazi times) and their government acts too brutally, free people will question and/or leak. The Russians and the Chinese have less qualms with anti-democratic practices, which usually work better on a military level, at least in the short term. Wikileaks could have been an awesome tool of US foreign policy, enabling whistleblowers all over the world and unsettling tyrannical societies. But the Americans overreacted after Manning and tried to screw them for good, cutting out credit cards and so on. That was such an existential threat that Assange and friends basically became life enemies and will now uncritically help anyone with an anti-US agenda. What a shame.
