GCC plugins for static analysis are much more relevant to solving this problem in the Linux kernel than Rust is.
- rurban 10y agoNope. A safe system language would be relevant. Obviously not Rust, which is better but not safe.

- rurban 10y agoMemory safety can be circumvented by an unsafe keyword. Deadlock safety is not existent. You still have to set run-time locks manually, where fast and safe lock-free compile-time solutions exist. More important than memory safety, which is trivial to implement with a GC and exist since decades. Oh wait, rust doesn't have a GC. Freeing cyclic data-structures...
