Miami fights against rising seas
- brudgers 10y agoI am not a climate change denier. The examples in the article miss the basic science that barrier islands are temporary independent of rapid sea level change and that much of coastal Florida was developed before local governments regulated construction in order to participate in the Federal Flood Insurance program. The examples in the article miss the basic physical geography of Miami. A basement just about anywhere is barely above (if not at or below) sea level. http://en-us.topographic-map.com/places/Miami-7034739/ http://en-us.topographic-map.com/places/Miami-7034739/ Using basement flooding in Miami as an example is absurd.
