I agree but I take an even stronger view: religion provides answers to The Ultimate Questions: who am I? why am I here? is there a God (or are there gods)? what happens when I die? etc. So while the various naturalistic metaphysical theories are not themselves religious endeavors, there is a great deal of overlap with religion in terms of their applications to the mind.
